It was a huge success with over 370 students from area school and homeschools across metro St. Louis. The amazing part to is the number of teachers and parents that express to me how impressed they are with the fort. Our School Day is a win-win; children get to experience hands-on tasks from the 18th century and many adults are there for the first time planning to visit the fort in the future! Hopefully next year we double the number of students attending!

2nd Annual School Days at Historic Fort de Chartres

Save Illinois History's 2nd Annual School Days will be held at Historic Fort de Chartres April 1st 2011. We are currently concentrating on The Illinois Historic French District. This includes - Fort de Chartres, The Cahokia Court House, The Menard Home and Old Fort Kaskaskia. Initially, we will raise money for the sites in the Historic French District so that they can stay operational. In addition, as our foundation grows we will reach out to the other Illinois Historic Sites that are in need. Our mission is to raise awareness of Illinois history through financially supporting, educating and keeping operational the great historic sites of Illinois.
